Mindfulness-based courses for nurse advocates

The Sussex Mindfulness Centre is offering free online mindfulness courses for Professional Nurse Advocates from April 2024. Find out more about the courses below and join a taster session to find out what to expect.

Mindfulness courses

The eight-week Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy course runs on Wednesdays from 17.00 to 19.00 from 17 April to 19 June 2024 (with a break on 29 May for half term).

The eight-week Mindfulness for Life course for nurse advocates runs on Thursdays from 16.00 to 18.00 from 18 April to 20 June 2024 (with a break on 30 May for half term).

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy

The eight-week course helps participants develop greater awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and experiences which in turn helps cultivate resilience and reduce depression and anxiety. Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) was designed specifically to help people who experience repeated episodes of depression to prevent relapse. MBCT is now recognised as an effective treatment for other mental health issues, such as anxiety. It also helps to improve wellbeing and resilience. You can find out more about the MBCT course here.

Mindfulness for Life course

The eight-week Mindfulness for Life course is based on the MBCT course (above), and offers mindfulness practices and cognitive-behavioural techniques in a way that is accessible for everybody. It can help professionals respond to stress with wisdom and resilience, and to cultivate appreciation and connection. You can find out more about our Mindfulness for Life course here.
