Research on mindfulness

We conduct research to find out when, how and why learning mindfulness skills can help improve wellbeing and mental health. Most of our research investigates the potential benefits of mindfulness for groups of people with distinct characteristics where good evidence doesn’t already exist.

Current mindfulness research

We research the impact of mindfulness courses for people experiencing a range of mental health difficulties including obsessive-compulsive difficulties, depression and distressing voices.

Our research examines the potential of mindfulness self-help for members of the public, NHS staff and people experiencing mental health difficulties.

We evaluate the impact of the eight-week mindfulness courses on staff of the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

We are also exploring whether bringing compassion practices into our mindfulness courses is helpful to participants. Find out about our current and ongoing studies here.

Published mindfulness research

We have contributed significantly to peer-reviewed mindfulness and compassion literature, publishing the findings of our research studies so that we can make a difference well beyond Sussex.
