Why train to teach with us?
The Sussex Mindfulness Centre is one of the leading mindfulness centres in the UK. And we are the only mindfulness and Mindful Self-Compassion teacher training and research centre, embedded in the NHS.
“The training I have done has really set me up, not just to teach but apply mindfulness teaching appropriately in different settings.”

Solid experience training teachers
We’ve been running mindfulness teacher training courses since 2011. We have 60 members of staff trained in mindfulness-based approaches and a thriving team of teacher trainers and researchers working together.
“What I gained from the training was confidence in leading practices because I knew I wanted to use them in my work, and I have gone on to do just that.”

Delivering teacher training within the NHS
We are part of the national training centres collaboration. With our partners at Exeter, Nottingham and Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, we deliver Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy training in the NHS Talking Therapies services (formerly known as IAPT).
“The training gave me the life I should have had”.

Teaching alongside experienced teachers
Our foundation teacher training includes an opportunity to teach alongside an experienced teacher, enabling you to apply for registration as a teacher with the British Association of Mindfulness-based Approaches (BAMBA), the national professional body for mindfulness professionals. The Sussex Mindfulness Centre is a member of BAMBA, which recognises teacher training programmes that meet agreed national standards.
“I got everything I needed from the training and was equipped to take that back out into real life.”
