Top Up Training to Teach MBCT / MBSR

Our training programme to teach Adapted Mindfulness-Based interventions provides graduates with the skills needed to teach such interventions safely. However, it does not enable participants to teach MBSR or MBCT, and some graduates have expressed an interest in a 'top up' course to enable them to do so. That is the purpose of this top up training programme.

The training course is open to both NHS staff and people who work outside the NHS, who have completed our Adapted Mindfulness-Based Interventions training. Fees for the 2022 training are £2450. There are usually some funded or part-funded training places available for Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust staff. In addition, all trainees need to pay £500 for a residential retreat.

Applications for the course that starts in February 2022 are now open.

Further information can be found in the 2022 handbook:

  • 2022 Course handbook
  • 2022 Application form for Sussex Partnership staff to be posted soon
  • 2022 Application form for external applicants to be posted soon

Applications should be submitted before 21st November 2021. Applicants who are external to Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SPFT) are welcome to submit their application forms early, for an early interview and selection decision.

A decision on whether the training will be held in person (in Brighton) or online via Zoom will be made based on the which option best suits the majority of applicants and on any Covid safety restrictions in place at the time of the training. We have previously run the course online in some years and in person in others, and found that both formats work well. Applicants will be asked to indicate on their application form whether they are willing and able to attend in person and/or online, and whether they have a preference. We will let successful applicants know which option (online, in person or a mixture) has been selected before the end of December 2021. After which, they can decide whether they wish to accept the offer of a place.
