Mindful Self-Compassion course

Mindful Self-Compassion teaches core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to challenges and difficult emotions with care and understanding.

What is Mindful Self-Compassion?

Based on pioneering research by Kristin Neff and integrated with the clinical perspective of Christopher Germer, the three key components of the Mindful Self-Compassion course are self-kindness, a sense of common humanity, and balanced, mindful awareness.

  1. Kindness opens our hearts to suffering, so we can give ourselves what we need.
  2. Common humanity opens us to others, so that we know we aren’t alone.
  3. Mindfulness opens us to the present moment, so we can accept our experience with greater ease.

Together all three comprise a state of warm hearted, connected presence during difficult moments in our lives. Here are some of things you will learn on a course:

  • how to stop being so hard on yourself;
  • how to handle difficult emotions with greater ease;
  • how to motivate yourself with encouragement rather than criticism;
  • how to transform difficult relationships, both old and new;
  • mindfulness and self-compassion practices for home and everyday life;
  • the theory and research behind Mindful Self-Compassion.

The benefits

Research has shown that self-compassion greatly enhances emotional wellbeing. It boosts happiness, reduces anxiety and depression, and can even help maintain healthy lifestyle habits such as diet and exercise. Being both mindful and compassionate leads to greater ease and well-being in our daily lives.

Testimonial

“Since doing the course I have been able to meet myself in a more genuine way. This has allowed me to approach my experience with less judgement, and give myself what I need in times of great stress or suffering.

I will practice mindfulness more frequently and particularly apply the teachings from the course. It has helped me to face challenges with kindness, and a more positive perspective, once I’ve allowed space to acknowledge that I am struggling.

This experience has helped me on a personal level, and I have found a new way to connect with clients and to be able to support them too.”
