Sussex Mindfulness Centre Conference 2019
Sussex Mindfulness Centre Conference 2019

If culture is made up of the values, beliefs, attitudes and behaviours shared by a group of people - then how can mindfulness and a greater awareness of social inequalities transform the status quo? The Sussex Mindfulness Centre conference 2022, sets out to explore this question.

Our keynote speakers will share their research and experience of how mindfulness can contribute to a more inclusive culture.

Chris Rouane, a driving force behind bringing mindfulness to the UK parliament, will throw light on how it can impact the culture of politics in which power imbalances reinforce societal inequalities.

Chris Tamdjidi, an expert in leadership development, will focus on how mindfulness can transform organisational life and culture.

Willem Kuyken will outline the growing evidence that Mindful Based Cognitive Therapy can promote mental health and unlock human flourishing in the wider population.

Jacquie Dover and Lyn Koerbel will discuss how Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction meets anti-racist and decolonial approaches. They will attempt to answer the question, how do we increase our cultural competence, awareness of overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination or disadvantage, and ability to address power relations skilfully, so that the mindfulness world becomes more inclusive.

The conference takes place on Friday, 16 September 2022, from 9:30am to 4:30pm at the Friends Meeting House, Ship Street, Brighton, BN1 1AF.
