    Innovations in Mindfulness Awards 2024

Have you done something innovative in mindfulness? Have you made mindfulness more accessible? If so, perhaps you should think of applying for an Innovations in Mindfulness Award. Applications for 2024 are now open!

The Mindfulness Initiative welcomes applications to this, the second round of awards for innovative work in the mindfulness sector. Innovation is a crucial element in making mindfulness practices more accessible, diverse and effective. Find out more and apply here.

Launched in 2022, the Innovations in Mindfulness Awards seek to celebrate and encourage creative innovations which are developing the field and making the benefits of mindfulness available to new audiences. The impact for previous finalists has surpassed expectations, prompting new partnerships, leading to increased visibility, and opening doors to funding opportunities.

The Fieldbook for Mindfulness Innovators – original inspiration for these Awards – has been updated and revitalised by its author, the innovation specialist Menka Sanghvi. Among other new content, it now includes sections on social mindfulness, as well as diversity, equity and inclusion. This resource is free and available for download, and is an invaluable roadmap to guide the development of impactful and sustainable mindfulness programmes.

The Innovations in Mindfulness microsite is a new hub for innovation in mindfulness. It’s a source of information and inspiration, and a platform for anyone from mindfulness teachers to funders, policy makers or researchers. Blog pieces are welcome, reflecting diverse perspectives and ideas to spark conversations, because innovation doesn’t happen in a silo.

Take a look around for details of the Awards categories and criteria, videos of previous finalists, thought-provoking blogs, and a treasure trove of ideas and guidance in the updated Fieldbook.

  • Ten years of Mindfulness in Westminster

Ten years of Mindfulness in Westminster

The Mindfulness Initiative’s new report, Mindfulness in Westminster: Reflections from UK Politicians, is a reflection of ten years of mindfulness training in the UK Parliament, and brings together politicians’ insights on the personal and interpersonal benefits they have experienced. The report makes a compelling case for providing politicians with evidence-based psycho-social training, such as mindfulness, to help manage their mental wellbeing, their everyday effectiveness, and their ability to ‘disagree better’.

You are invited to join a webinar, chaired by the Mindfulness Initiative’s new director, Richard Edwards. In the session the authors of the report, Ruth Ormston and Jamie Bristow will summarise some of the key themes to emerge from politicians’ experience of mindfulness training. Participants will then hear from politicians who contributed to the report, as well as from those further afield who will reflect on the pressures of political life, the contribution that mindfulness could make, and its potential impact within their own political landscape.

The speakers invited include: Tim Ryan (Former U.S. Congressman – confirmed), Petra De Sutter (Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium), Tim Loughton MP (Conservative Mindfulness All-Party Parliamentary Group Co-chair – confirmed), Caroline Lucas MP (Green MP and Vice-chair of the Mindfulness All-Party Parliamentary Group – confirmed), Jani Toivola (former Finnish MP), Minister Ximena Aguilera (Chilean Minister for Health).
