Innovations in mindfulness for refugees
Dr Lana Jackson, Clinical Psychologist and mindfulness teacher at the Sussex Mindfulness & Compassion, shares some of the innovations in our work with refugees and celebrates the team’s award. I am beyond thrilled to announce that our collaborating team has won a 2024 Innovations in Mindfulness Award! This recognition honours the work we’ve been doing through our 10-week, trauma-informed, and culturally-sensitive mindfulness courses that were designed for women refugees and asylum-seekers. Time to prioritise mental health in the workplace
Workplace stress is leaving people depleted and unable to cope. In the run up to World Mental Health Day on 10 October 2024, Kate Webb explains how mindfulness can help. Mindful Self-Compassion for Burnout
Here is a short extract from Mindful Self-Compassion for Burnout, by Kristin Neff and Chris Germer. Chris is running a workshop of the same name in Brighton on 21 September, to coincide with the launch of the book. Self-compassion is not “self-care”—you know, that list of small acts you can do for yourself presented in employer-mandated webinars and on “wellness” websites. You don’t need to be handed that list again. (Hot baths? Please. Sleep better? When? Eat right? Who’s doing the cooking—to say nothing of the grocery shopping?) It’s not advice to simply do less, as often offered by well-meaning…
